Yesterday, Omegadotter turned 15...
It was a Monday, but at the end of the day we had these....
Omegadotter framing a selfie before she blew out the her candles...
Then the kid admiring the selfie after she blew out the candles.
At first glance, it may not seem like much, but if you look in to the words and the stories and the history that are built into these photos, it's pretty much everything.
Happy Birthday Kid, and I'll leave you with these thoughts:
- When people are stupid, it's okay not to be People.
- It's good to be strong, but sometimes the best way to stand up for yourself is to step back and watch while other people act like damned fools. Let them kick their own asses.
- If there are times when you can't step back and people are being racist, sexists, Republicans, or some other kind of Nazi Pigs, let me know. We will kick ass and take names together.
- At 15, you are more of an adult than most people are who are 50. It is your responsibility to raise these old shits, to teach them, to nurture them, and to sometimes give them a big dope slap upside the head. Do it with kindness, but remember to do it when it needs to be done.
- Kick ass with kindness and you will always win. It's hard to do, but when you do it well, you will be able to feel great that you helped someone else find happiness (or you'll be able to laugh at the people who find it confusing as hell).
- Art is a life, and life is an art.
- If you cry more, you win more. Don't be afraid to win a lot.
- Sometimes, all it takes is a pinkie finger hug to turn your world around,
- Laugh until you almost laugh your heart out, then stop and save a bit of your heart to laugh again on another day.
- If you are given the opportunity to dance, take it. Dance until the world thunders beneath your feet.
- Love until your love thunders across the world.
- Never forget the people who will always live in your heart.
- You Matter!!!
